Sometimes you feel like you just “can’t get right”. Whether it’s job, money, relationships, health… sometimes things just don’t go your way. I was listening to one of the great motivation montages on YouTube and there was a Tony Robbins interview clip. Tony was describing an interaction with one of his students who was stuck on his path towards achieving his goals.
“I’ve tried 1,000 things” said the student. “Really, what have you tried?” asks Tony. “Well I’ve tried hundreds of things…”. Again, Tony asks “What have you tried?”
“I’ve tried three things a hundred times and they’re not working.”
Are you in the same boat? Lord knows I’ve felt this way – actually until quite recently. Eventually, you just have to say fuck it and make a change. Obviously if I keep doing what I’ve been doing, then I’m going to keep getting what I’ve always gotten.
For me, it’s a little harder… I have to change who I am – I have to be more that I’ve been. I’ve ridden on talent for a long time. In order to get where I want to go, I need to develop skills that I have been sorely lacking – organization, follow up, willpower, diligence, intention, strategy.
It’s easy to tell yourself that you’re trying, and that may be true. Sometimes selling yourself is the most immediately gratifying sale you can make. Awareness is more important – as Any Frisella (the MFCEO) says how you feel is irrelevant.
It’s go time boys and girls… if you’re not moving ahead, people are flying by you.
