Since its first episode, I have been an avid listener of The MFCEO Project. The Podcast, delivered by Andy Frisella and Vaughn Kohler, is nothing short of epic. I left my review on iTunes (look for me here and leave your own review), but feel the need to share how this podcast has already changed my outlook on just about everything.
The podcast, if you haven’t heard it, is edgy and the language is about four thousand miles past “harsh”. For some, you can tell the use of profanity is some type of tactic to either build rapport or stand out. For Andy, it’s an extension of his belief system on life and business. What you see is what you get – I am who I am and you can either get in line or move on.
He and his team are real and as a previous worker in the world of the scammy seminar world, his attitude on work and success isn’t just refreshing, it’s unfiltered and delicious like a great New EnglandĀ IPA.
Seriously, just check out the first line of the description on iTunes:
The MFCEO Project is for anyone who is sick of the fluffy unicorns and rainbows style of talking about pursuing goals and profiting in business.
The truth is, you do have to do the work. You have to do the work that isn’t fun. You have to get dirty, bleed a little, and then get up and do it again the next day. Guess what? Then you get to do it again and again. Your feelings are irrelevant. Plan the work and work the plan.
I used to work in a mobile boiler room that taught people that there was a shortcut to riches… that there was a way to avoid the work. Just do these few things and you too can be standing next to a Ferrari in a picture on the internet. Guess what? That Ferrari was rented and if the seminar company folded, the guy in the picture would be renting from you the next day.
I have two kids and an amazing wife – they are my WHY – and I grew up a lot after listening to this podcast over the past several months. The lessons in this podcast have invaded my thinking about how I prospect, about how I sell, about how I parent, and about how I lead my Cub Scout groups.
I realized by listening to Andy’s words, by buying into his message, that I had fallen victim to the same empty dreams sold by the hucksters on late night tv. I know that the work needs to be done and whether you love it or hate it, your feelings really are irrelevant. It’s the outcome that matters. Discomfort is one step from success… as long as you take that step every single day.

Here is a list of some of my favorite episodes – many of them are early on. That might be skewed as the early episodes were the most poignant for me. As time goes, the message continues but it was the early episodes that shocked my system.
- Your Success Requires Time and Tenacity (featuring Ben Newman)
- Success is Your Obligation
- Setting the Record Straight on Success (featuring the MFDAD, Andy’s father)
If you haven’t listened or figured it out, the MFCEO stands for the Mother F(bleeping) CEO. It’s not just for business owners – it’s for everyone. I’m working on bringing the MFCEO message to my kids (minus about 2,480 F-bombs).
Be the MFCEO of your own life.
Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog from LinkedIn. Thanks for the insights.
